Mike Grecian is a fine Mixed Media artist that works with many mediums including Watercolor. This will be the first of many classes that Mike will be teaching for the store.
A bit about Mike:
After completing his MFA in drawing and painting from Northern Illinois University in 1975, Michael Grecian worked as a freelance artist in the Chicago area creating corporate logo design, illustration, and commissioned portraits for Dan Ryan Electric, and the Weinstein family. Originally an oil painter, he now works almost exclusively in watercolor and colored pencil, and is a member of the CPSA. He currently works very closely with the Savannah College of Art & Design in Atlanta and Savannah, the Art Institutes and a variety of schools in the Southeastern United States.
explore surfaces to be creative on, as well as a wide variety of mediums to enhance our visual statements. We will use sizing on papers to see the benefit and effect in applying paint and color on porous and non porous surfaces. We will add mediums to our inks, watercolors, Acrylics to create textures in our painting and create a variety of textures. By trying a wide range of gels, pumice, matte and gloss mediums, we will explore the endless possibilities of adding different art materials to get added dimensions to our products. See the difference in using the same paints, inks on different substrates that are rough, smooth, or medium texture surface surface…Mike will have a surprise for this class as a project!
