Thread Painting with Christine

Learn the ABC’s of thread painting while making these beautiful flowers. During the class we will work on exercises and techniques before the actual project.  Even beginners will enjoy this class. We will be making a binder cover decorated with our flowers. Learn how to assemble a basic book cover with a pocket as an added plus!  This is a really fun technique that is easy to do when you learn how.  Use these new skills to decorate panels, shirts and even add to your art journals!

Materials:

2 x Cotton fabric  (I suggest at least one solid the other can be a small print). 35” x 15”

Scrap piece of fabric for exercises (cotton is best – muslin is perfect) 24” x 12”

5 different colored threads in the tone of your choice  plus black (mine are pink) assorted to your cotton fabric – 1 light, 1 medium light, 1 medium, 1 medium dark, 1 dark)

2 yellow threads ( 1 light, 1 medium)

3 green threads (1 light, 1 medium, 1 dark)

GREY thread for bobbin

Topstitch needle size 14 and 12 (Schmetz is great)

Darning foot for your machine

Cover for feed dogs – only if lowering your feed dogs is not built in (older machines)

Scissors

If you do not have the thread colors, I can provide them ($20 kit fee)

I will bring all other materials (stabilizer, hoops, etc.)

Let's hear from you . . .
