Shoebox Project with Lisa – Life Stories Made Simple!

Last week we had our first group meet for the Shoebox Project. This class at first glance seems to be only for beginners with the simplicity of the pages, however we had several advanced and seasoned scrapbookers join us. It is time for all of us to get our photos out of boxes and bags and into an album. Each day we procrastinate starting we are falling another day behind!  Many in the group are already working on many years past. I myself will work alongside the group and am digging up the year 2000. Another member is way back in 1979 and one is working on all of her past Disney trips. When class instruction is over we encourage you to sit here and work on your book until it is time to pick the kids up from school or put dinner on the table for your family, whichever comes first!

We visited all of the options and levels of complexity for layouts and the many techniques you can incorporate into your project. Here are three pages done in three different styles:

Nancy designed a simple page by using Echo Park Paper. There are no additional embellishments or techniques used and this page is perfect for this style of scrapbooking.

Lisa's page is the actual class page. The pockets were designed from scratch using patterned paper, stamps, ink and chalk, punches, stickers and embellishments. While still simple in design, it is a little more detailed than just using pre-made cards and paper.

Melinda is a member of our design team. For her page she went all out using multiple layers and details on each pocket. This is a much more involved page, much like the design work that would go into a traditional scrapbook page.

If you missed the class it is not too late to join us. Our next fall theme class is on Wednesday, November 6 from 10:30-11:30. Table space is available to you the rest of the day to create and catch up. We will continue to meet the first Wednesday of every month. Come join us!

Gelli Plate Printing with Michelle

Saturday Michelle had two different groups in playing with the Gelli Plates in Gelli Plate Printing 101 and 201. They took their printing beyond using just paper and printed on deli paper and packing tape. Working with a variety of paints, techniques and tools the class came up with enough prints to develop into two books in the Gelli Plate Printing 201 class.

If you have not experienced the fun of making your own monoprint paper for cardmaking, scrapbooking and art journaling come take the next class on Saturday, November 16th from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm .

How Do I? with Michelle

The “How Do I?” series allows the experienced scrapbooker or the newbie to come in and learn a new technique that you might not otherwise pick up and use. This month’s class played with Washi Tape and created a whole page layout focusing on tape alone.

You never need to feel pressured into taking each class, join in on the fun as you see a new technique or product that peaks your interest. Next class is on November 2nd as we explore the many uses of ribbons.

Don’t miss out on another week of fun classes. Watch for our next post on Tuesday about the upcoming classes.
